Pulpit Coverage and Pastoral Search Update

Letter from your Personnel Team
Update on Pulpit Coverage and Pastoral Search – February 2026

As we move through this season of transition at St Giles Presbyterian Church, we want to keep our congregation informed about the current progress in filling the pulpit on Sundays, as well as updates regarding our search for a transitional (bridge) pastor. Pastor Suzanne is firmly in place to help us navigate through this process. We have a robust Lenten season planned that started with our Ash Wednesday service on February 18th. Please look for all events that we have planned for the upcoming Lenten season in your newsletter, via your Shelby-Next App or on our website events page.

We Have the Pulpit Covered Through May 3. Since Pastor Libby announced her departure, the church leadership has worked diligently to ensure that our Sunday worship services remain meaningful and spiritually uplifting. We have secured guest preachers and retired ministers to fill the pulpit each Sunday through May 3. This arrangement allows us to maintain continuity in worship while we work toward longer-term solutions.

Transitional (Bridge) Pastor Search
With Pastor Libby now gone, the Session has begun the process of seeking a transitional (bridge) pastor. This role is vital in guiding St Giles through the next steps as we prepare for a new permanent leader. The search committee is actively reaching out to candidates and denominational contacts, and we hope to have more information to share with the congregation soon. Your prayers and support during this process are greatly appreciated.

We look forward to working with you to navigate these changes. We thank you for your patience and faith as we navigate these changes together. Please look for further updates in upcoming newsletters, and don’t hesitate to reach out to anyone on the Personnel Committee with questions or concerns.
