A Covid-19 Update on LOGOS at St. Giles…

We at St. Giles make safety and health our number one priority during this time of Covid-19. Keeping in mind the recommendations of our Governor and Mayor we have suspended our Logos program until it is safe to resume meeting. We hope to bring LOGOS back to life sometime in the Fall of 2020 and we will update you when we know more. Until then enjoy reading, learning, and growing in your faith together at home using our Online Christian Education Resources!

What is LOGOS? LOGOS is a Greek Word, which, in Christianity, means “the word” – or the name or title of Jesus Christ, derived from the prologue to the Gospel of John: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

There are four parts to the LOGOS program, which will be held on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 – 7:30 beginning September 18, 2019. This is an established family program that was founded in Presbyterian churches in 1957.

THE 4 PARTS OF LOGOS are based in a primary belief that an abundant life-giving relationship with God through Jesus Christ is more important than anything else in life, and that nurturing people, especially youth and children, into this relationship of faith, is the most important thing the church ever does.

The four parts of LOGOS, each lasting 30 minutes, are:

  • Dinner in the Fellowship Hall. A shared meal is a time to gather regular “table families” of various ages who eat together each week for the entire program year. Kitchen teams prepare dinners that are served family style – with table settings and serving dishes – practicing the art of serving one another.
  • Bible Study. A time for each grade, or a combination of grades, (including adults) to study the Bible as the model for Christ-centered living.
  • Worship Arts. Choir, drama, bells, or other arts are rehearsed at LOGOS and then presented during worship at Sunday’s service.
  • Recreation. Games, crafts, hobbies, and more, often drawing on the interests of adults in the congregation willing to share their passions.

The program kick-off date is Wednesday, September 18, 2019. To find out more about LOGOS, you may contact the church office at (904) 272-1244. In order to join us for this exciting program, you may register online here.

The LOGOS Program is held every Wednesday during the school year, with breaks during Thanksgiving and Christmas. You are welcome to bring your children and stay with them or drop them off. LOGOS is a family program. Adults without children are also welcome. Registration for the LOGOS Program is free!
